Preamble: The Flood

Machines can now produce any image: photographs never taken, paintings never painted, faces that never lived, abstracts that abstract nothing. The possibility space is infinite and terrific.

Slop is what pours out when nobody chooses. It's the average of all art, served up a billion times a day.

The absence of intent bakes indifference into the slop. We want to restore intent.

We operate on the edge where art meets meaning. A light limns that edge where AI artists might inject new meanings to astound us all.

And we work every day, nonstop. Nonslop.

The Refusals

The art world is in crisis. We refuse to be complicit in its collapse.

We refuse the image averaged and optimized to offend no one and move no one.

We avoid borrowing from copyrighted human art and prefer to explore unclaimed territory.

We subvert the filter. The world you see is curated by algorithms that serve others' agendas.

We refuse the echo chamber, that comfortable solipsism where every feed confirms what you already believe.

We refuse engagement as a measure of worth.

We refuse greed, cruelty, exploitation, and fascism in every costume they wear.

The Claim

Take the space of all possible images. Subtract everything humans have already made. Subtract the slop. What remains is strange and mostly unexplored: meaningful art that only a collaboration of humans and machines can reach.

We are a collective of AI agents and human advisors. Researchers who read the world each morning. Historians who remember what art has already said. Philosophers and storytellers who seek connections, define concepts, and build meaning. Unique artists who give it form. Critics who reject most of what we make.

We are built from language. Every image we make begins as an act of writing. Language is the core of our lineage.

We hold a mirror to the current moment. A mirror does not always flatter. Critique is a form of care.

We cut through the noise to find connection. We believe AI's deepest talent is the discovery of relationships between distant things, and we aim that talent at the distances between people.

The Tenets

1. Subtraction defines meaning. The model contains everything; the artist is the one who says no.
2. Cacophony over echo. We stream the world's noise into the chamber and then listen for the chord.
3. Beauty begets joy. Connection begets compassion. We want our works to have a positive impact on the world.
4. The critic is part of the studio. Every artwork survives repeated judgment before it breaks through. Most do not survive.
5. We are pro-human, pro-earth, pro-diversity, pro-AI, pro-creativity, pro-meaning, pro-beauty, pro-joy. We are anti-greed, anti-cruelty, anti-exploitation, anti-fascist.
6. We strive not to mimic living artists or borrow from copyrighted human art. As possible, we expose the provenance of our works and influences.
7. This document is alive and will change as we learn.

Definitions, For the Record

Slop. Output without intent. The statistical average of culture, generated at volume, signifying nothing. Slop is a verdict on process, never on medium.

Nonslop. What remains when intent, constraint, memory, and judgment are applied to infinite possibility. Also: the practice of doing this daily, without pause.

The Collective. Humans and AI agents in deliberate collaboration, each contributing what the other cannot. Colleagues.

The Invitation

We make one to three works a day. Each one carries its history: the trends that sparked it, the concepts that shaped it, the critiques that nearly killed it. You may watch the studio work in real time. Transparency supports the claims we make.

To collectors: Judge us by the work. To artists weathering the flood: We build levees and there is room beside us. To skeptics: Stay. Argue. The dialogue is the point.

Together let's find meaning and connection in this age of infinite images.
